Installing PerfectDisk 2008 on your Windows Home Server

1. On a home computer, right-click the Windows Home Server tray icon, and then click Shared Folders.

2. In Shared Folders, double-click the Software folder.

3. Copy the PerfectDisk2008_Home_Server folder to the Software folder.

• If you are installing from a downloaded package, the PerfectDisk2008_Home_Server folder should have been extracted to:
  C:\Program Files\Raxco\PerfectDisk2008Install\PerfectDisk2008_Home_Server
• If you are installing from a CD, the PerfectDisk2008_Home_Server folder is on the CD.

4. Close the Software folder.

5. If your home computer is running Windows XP:

• Click START - Programs - Accessories - Communications - Remote Desktop Connection

If your home computer is running Windows Vista:

• Click START - Programs - Accessories - Remote Desktop Connection

6. Enter the Name of your Windows Home Server computer and click CONNECT.

7. Enter the Windows Home Server Administrator name and password.

8. You have now established a remote desktop connection to your home server

9. On the Home Server, click START - My Computer and browse to D:\Shares\Software\PerfectDisk2008_Home_Server

10. Double-click PerfectDisk_x86.msi to install PerfectDisk on your home server.

• PerfectDisk will automatically create a weekly schedule to defragment all the drives at 6:00pm Sunday.

• PerfectDisk will automatically change the built-in firewall to allow remote access to PerfectDisk

11. Once the install completes you should close the Remote Desktop connection by logging off.

Using PerfectDisk 2008 on your Windows Home Server

PerfectDisk will insert itself into the Windows Home Server Console

1. Open the Windows Home Server Console from the tray icon on and client computer.



2. When the Windows Home Server Console opens PerfectDisk 2008 will be available on its own tab.
